Traveling the world, one photo at a time

Cathedral and Plaza de Armas – Morelia – Mexico

Morelia, the capital of the Mexican State of Michoacán is largely off the tourist track, but well worth a visit. The city's historic centre was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1991 in recognition of its beautiful and well preserved colonial buildings. This photo shows the Plaza de Armas, the main square, with the baroque Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ (Catedral de la Transfiguración del Señor de Morelia), built in 1660.
